Bereavement Ministers comfort grieving parishioners and assist the family in planning the funeral liturgy and offer follow-up support from our community.
Each minister assists families with planning funeral liturgies during a given month per year. There are two general meetings annually. The parish hosts a Memorial Mass on All Souls Day.
Minister training is available in two sessions.
Parishioners contribute a monetary donation for Diocesan Saint Vincent dePaul to purchase blankets and other items in bulk for families, children, the elderly, homeless and other individuals in need in our metropolitan area.
CHRISTMAS GIVING TO THOSE IN NEED
Parishioners select gift suggestions from the “Giving Tree” and contribute these specific items for area families who otherwise would not be able to afford them.
COLLINWOOD MEAL PROGRAM
As part of Saint Anselm’s joint ministry with Saint Jerome Parish, volunteers from both parishes serve hot meals in the Collinwood area to anyone in need. Meals are served on Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons.

EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS OF HOLY COMMUNION TO THE SICK AND HOMEBOUND
Trained Extraordinary Ministers Of Holy Communion bring Holy Communion to members of the parish who are unable to attend weekend Masses on a weekly basis.
Parishioners donate food or make monetary donations to supply local food banks on a monthly basis. Food donations are accepted the first weekend of each month. Click here for a sample list of food donations needed.
GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP
Consolation is provided to newly bereaved parishioners in collaboration with Saint Francis of Assisi Parish through presentations on coping, prayer and sharing. Groups are held twice a year (spring and fall at either parish on a rotating basis). Groups last for four weeks.
HOPE FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Grieving members of our cluster parishes gather in November for support and coping ideas.
Trained visitors bring the prayers and concern of the parish to parishioners in local hospitals on a weekly basis.
Parishioners provide and/or serve a luncheon for the family of a deceased Saint Anselm parishioner and their guests after the funeral.
· Providing a hot or cold side dish or bakery item on an as needed basis.
· Helping serve the buffet on an as needed basis.
· Co-chairing buffets one month a year.
PARTNERS IN MINISTRY

SAINT ANSELM ASSISTANCE MINISTRY
Members of this ministry identify and reach out to those in need within our community.
Members of the parish make prayer shawls, baby items, hats and mittens while praying for those who will receive them. The group meets monthly for two hours on Saturday afternoon.
SOCIAL JUSTICE AND OUTREACH COMMITTEE
This group plans service and justice opportunities for the parish. They meet on the second Monday evening of the month.
Volunteers prepare and serve a traditional dinner for the community, free of charge, on Thanksgiving Day. Organizers meet once in October. Planning meetings are held as necessary.
